To Whom it May Concern:

Lorna Bracewell sang folk songs and spoke to the students at Sebring High School, Lake Placid High School and Avon Park High School in December of 2007. She engaged the students by telling them stories about each of the songs and sharing a little something about herself. The teachers and administrators were impressed with her crowd control and calm manner. The students that wanted to know more or ask more questions were given time after each performance to speak with Lorna. Judging from the clapping and the sing along segments, the students had a great time. In fact, the hour performance was over before we knew it and she left us wanting to hear one more song.

Lorna mainly performed for the chorus students, band classes, 11th graders and for students that are not certain of their goals. She stressed the importance of school and told the students her plans for continuing her education. She also made them understand how hard it is to record, travel and make singing engagements. She thrilled them with her demonstration of rap and heavy metal guitar playing. She was able to show them she did have diversity in music and could play more than folk music. This demonstration touched them in a way that made them relate to her music and their own.

Our schools are always very busy with testing, reading classes, and preparations for State Exams. Fitting Lorna into our hectic schedule was well worth the time and money. The students had a chance to relax and enjoy school for an hour. Assemblies are so rare in schools today that it was great to have an opportunity to bring entertainment in that did not stir the students up for the rest of the day but instead left them thinking about their futures. This was a day the students will not forget and will more than likely tell stories to their children about the day a young female folk singer came to their school.
